SED is running a series of Project Development Workshops in the latter half of 2008. These Workshops have been developed in partnership with Chisholm Institute and are underwritten by SED so that community participants can afford to attend.

The Workshops offer participants the opportunity to think about a potential project, small or large, and to scope and develop the concept from inception through to completion.

The workshops will be structured so that participants learn about 4 main areas:

  1. Identifying the project requirements
    • Rationale identified
    • Stakeholders identified
    • Project environment and environmental issues addressed
    • Project parameters determined
  2. Preparing the business case
    • Research and analysis undertaken
    • Project scope determined
    • Specialists consulted
  3. Preparing the project plan
    • Project outputs determined
    • Project management tools are utilised
    • Budgets are established and funding models explored
  4. Establishing the project infrastructure
    • Implementation strategy developed
    • Terms of reference and project infrastructure requirements for set-up and implementation are clarified
    • Processes identified for monitoring, evaluating and reporting performance

Some feedback from participants:
